The desert at the speed of a camel

White Desert Camel Trek: Overview

In short: our White Desert Camel Trek is a private 3-day camel safari from Cairo. You ride with Bedouin cameleers from Bahariya through the chalk towers of the White Desert, sleep two nights in quiet desert camps and wake up to sunrise over Mushroom Rock. Transport, camels, meals, camping and park fees are included.

A jeep shows you the desert. A camel lets you feel it. On a camel there is no engine, no hurry, only the soft steps of the animal, the wind and the long shadows of the rocks. Travelers tell us this is the moment Egypt slowed down for them.

Our cameleers are Bedouins from Bahariya Oasis, the same families that have crossed this desert for generations. They know every well, every shaded rock and every story. They lead your camel, cook bread in the sand and make tea on the fire every evening.

You do not need any experience. Camels are calm and the pace is gentle. We mix riding with walking beside the caravan, and a 4×4 follows at a distance with water, food and your bags, so you travel light and safe.

Come as our guests, leave as family. Prefer a faster trip? See our 2-day White Desert tour by 4×4.
