White Desert Hiking Tour: Overview
In short: our White Desert Hiking Tour is a private 3-day trek from Cairo. You hike 8 to 14 km a day with a local guide through the Black Desert, Agabat Valley and the giant chalk formations of the White Desert, while a 4×4 support car carries water, lunch and your bags. Two nights at desert camps, meals and park fees included.
The White Desert is best discovered on foot. From the car you see the famous rocks. Walking, you find the hidden ones: fossil shells in the chalk, fox tracks in the morning sand, narrow canyons and quiet valleys that no jeep can reach.
The walking is not technical. Paths are mostly flat sand and hard chalk ground, with a few short climbs for the views. Your guide adapts the distance to your group, and the support car is never far if someone wants a break.
Each evening we reach camp as the rocks turn pink and orange. Dinner is cooked on the fire, tea is poured long and frothy, and the stars come out one by one.

We pick you up at your hotel and drive about 4 to 4.5 hours to Bahariya Oasis, with a coffee stop on the way.

Black Desert climb and Agabat Valley
Lunch in Bahariya, then climb a volcanic hill in the Black Desert for the view and hike about 4 km through the canyons of Agabat Valley.
Overnight: Desert camp in the White Desert.

Into the chalk formations
After breakfast, hike about 6 km between the chalk towers of the White Desert, looking for fossil shells and fox tracks.

Lunch in the shade
Lunch and a long rest in the shade of a giant rock. The support car meets you with cold water and food.

Arches and the sunset ridge
Hike another 5 to 8 km to the arches and a ridge for sunset, then reach a new camp for dinner by the fire.
Overnight: Desert camp in the White Desert.

Sunrise walk to Mushroom Rock
A short sunrise hike to Mushroom Rock and Chicken Rock, breakfast, then lunch in Bahariya and the drive to Cairo, arriving about 7:00 PM.
