Planned around the light, not the clock

White Desert Photography Tour: Overview

In short: our White Desert Photography Tour is a private 3-day trip from Cairo built for photographers. We plan every stop around golden hour, blue hour and the night sky, with two sunsets, two sunrises and two Milky Way nights among the chalk towers, plus the Black Desert, Crystal Mountain and Agabat Valley.

Most desert tours arrive at the White Desert in the harsh midday sun and leave before the magic starts. Photographers have told us the same story again and again. So we turned the day around: we rest at noon and shoot when the light is soft, warm and long.

Your guide grew up in Bahariya and knows where the light falls at each hour: which pinnacle catches the first sun, which arch frames the Milky Way, which ridge glows at sunset. You get time to set up your tripod, try again, and wait for the moment.

At night there is almost no light pollution. With a dark moon the Milky Way rises bright over the formations. We help with compositions, light painting with soft lamps and keeping the camp lights low.

Phone or full frame, beginner or pro, this trip is about bringing home the desert you saw.

Why this trip works

Shoot When the Light Is Best

Our photo schedule in short:

  • Golden hoursWe are at the best spot 45 minutes before sunset and before sunrise, every day.
  • Rest at noonMidday is for lunch, editing and rest in the shade, not for flat light.
  • Dark skiesWe choose camps away from other groups and keep lights low for astrophotography.

    Questions travelers ask

    White Desert Photography Tour FAQ

Is this photography tour good for beginners?

Yes. It is private, so your guide helps beginners with simple compositions and gives experienced photographers time and freedom.

When is the best time to photograph the Milky Way in the White Desert?

On nights near the new moon, mostly from March to October. In winter the core is lower, but the sky is still full of stars.

Can I fly a drone in the White Desert?

Drones need an official permit in Egypt and are often held at customs. We do not recommend bringing one without a permit.

Do I need a professional camera?

No. Modern phones take good photos in the day. For the Milky Way, a camera with manual settings and a tripod works best.

How many sunrises and sunsets do we get?

Two sunsets and two sunrises in the desert, plus two night sessions.

    Where do we sleep?

In desert camps away from other groups, with low light to protect your night shots.

Can we change the plan for the weather?

Yes. Your guide adjusts the route and timing to the light, wind and clouds.

How do I book and pay?

Send a request with the form or on WhatsApp. Once we confirm, you pay a 30% deposit through an official PayPal invoice and the rest in cash on the day.
